“Super Hoe” is track 9 on Boogie Down Productions’ 1987 debut release Criminal Minded.

This drum break on “Super Hoe” was sampled on “Lost Ones,” produced by Lauryn Hill, Che Pope, & Vada Nobles.

Lauryn Hill is songwriter, producer, vocalist, and hip-hop pioneer from New Jersey and New York.  She is also one third of the Grammy-Award winning group The Fugees.

Che Pope (a.k.a. Che Guevara) is a Grammy-award winning record producer who has worked with Lauryn Hill, Dr. Dre, and Kanye West, among many others.

He has also collaborated with Lauryn Hill on “To Zion” on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and for music by Aretha Franklin’s “A Rose Is Still A Rose” and Carlos Santana’s “Do You Like The Way.”

He is also known for his executive production on Kanye West’s Yeezus, Cruel Summer, and specifically West’s “Bound 2.”

Vada Nobles is a record producer credited for drum programming and additional production on “Lost Ones.”  He has also worked with Rihanna.

Boogie Down Productions is one of the most influential hip-hop groups in New York from the late 1980’s,  made of rapper KRS-One, DJ/rapper/producer D-Nice, and DJ/producer Scott La Rock.

The group named themselves after the "Boogie Down Bronx," and were known for their distinct beat style, and spreading politics and black urban consciousness through their lyrical content.

In an interview, KRS-One said he moved out of his mother’s home when he was just 13 or 14, and originally met D-Nice and Scott La Rock in a homeless shelter area.

Criminal Minded’s lyrical content greatly expanded the understanding of what type of subject matter could be put on a hip-hop record.

“Super Hoe” by Boogie Down Productions has also been sampled by MF Doom and J Dilla.

In 1987, Michael Jackson released his follow up record to Thriller entitled “Bad,” arguably the most anticipated album release in the history of pop music.

In 1987, Donald Trump engaged in public discussion about his potential candidacy for president.  He had purchased 3 full page advertisements in big newspapers to air his foreign policy.

In the 1987 NBA Finals, the LA Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics in a 4-2 series.  Magic Johnson won the MVP.
