Just months after the release of her classic debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauryn Hill graced the cover of the 1999 free preview issue of Honey Magazine.

Co-founded by Kierna Mayo and Joicelyn Dingle, Honey was an entertainment-fashion-lifestyle magazine that uniquely targeted young, urban women. Acting as distinct voice for the female hiphop generation, the magazine featured black women such as Lil’ Kim, Mary J. Blige, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Aaliyah and Beyoncé, as well as other celebrities of color, on its covers.
