Louder Than a Bomb is a journey through the origins and the explosion of the golden age of hip hop, from the days when it was an underground culture rooted in urban environment to became a mainstream phenomenon with a large following in suburban areas. The volume is a collection of oral histories of the protagonists and short essays, introduced by a chronology of the main events concerning politics, fashion, sports and movies relevant for black America in the eighties, and is complemented by an overview of the London scene that highlights the first impact hip hop in Europe. u.net with his syncopated narrative style builds a collage of images, digressions, time shifts ,hooks and openings to present the various topics which resemble a cut and paste of a rap production . Louder Than a Bomb è un viaggio attraverso le origini e l’esplosione della golden age dell’hip hop, il periodo in cui da cultura underground radicata nell’ambiente urbano divenne un fenomeno mainstream, con largo seguito nelle aree suburbane.
Il volume raccoglie una serie di racconti orali dei protagonisti e alcuni brevi saggi introdotti da una cronologia su politica, moda, sport e cinema dell’America nera degli anni ottanta, ed è completato da una panoramica sulla scena londinese che mette in risalto il primo impatto dell’hip hop in Europa.
